It’s relatively quiet in the broad financial markets today. Asian and European equity indices are modestly higher, and S&P 500 futures are essentially unchanged. Treasury prices are unchanged to slightly lower. Markets await the release of the January 30 FOMC minutes this afternoon, particularly as it relates to the Committee’s discussion of balance sheet normalization plans. As noted yesterday, the Fed policy conference in New York on Friday could offer additional color on this topic. There are several Fed leaders scheduled to speak on various topics, including balance sheet plans.
