China set the tone for risk markets overnight as the Shanghai Composite surged 5.60% in response to increased government accommodation and positive news regarding the trade war. Even though a deal has yet to be made, President Trump delayed the 3/1 deadline to boost tariffs on Chinese imports citing substantial progress on issues such as intellectual property, agriculture and currency in the negotiations. The US markets are trading in sympathy with S&P500 futures up 16 points (+.60%) and bond yields higher across the curve. Later this week, Fed Chairman Powell will deliver his semiannual testimony on monetary policy and the economy to Congress. In addition, the fourth quarter GDP reading will be released on Thursday with expectations of 2.3% growth QoQ.
