Treasury prices are higher this morning with trading volumes light overnight in Asia with Japan closed until Monday the New Year holiday. Equity futures pointed to higher open this morning following China’s 50 bp cut to the reserve requirement ratio. Initial jobless claims came in slightly higher than expected at 222,000 vs 220,000; which is unchanged from the prior week. This reading is just another data point illustrating the overall health of the US labor market.
