The 10-year initially rallied 14 bps on the news in the overnight session, but has since retraced most of that move, now sitting at 4.58%. The news also sent oil prices higher, with Brent crude breaching the $90-a-barrel mark. Futures on the major US indices are all in negative territory, led by the NASDAQ which is down 0.227%.
This has been a rough week for risk assets following last week’s inflation data as well as retail sales from Monday. The S&P is down 2.18% through last night’s close, putting it on track for its worst week since October, while the ICE BofA US Broad Market index is down 14 bps relative to Treasuries.
