A softer tone in risk markets has Treasuries better bid to start the week.
Yields are 1-4 basis points lower this morning, with the long end of the curve experiencing the biggest move. Technology stocks are weaker, and oil prices are down 1-2% ahead of Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s press conference this afternoon, where he is expected to announce fresh sanctions against Iran. The primary focus for this week will be Kevin Warsh’s speech on Friday morning at the annual Kansas City Fed symposium in Jackson Hole. On the data front, the July PCE report will be released on Wednesday, along with personal income and spending data.
