Alphabet announced that it plans to borrow $25 billion via a 10-part bond issue to fund its AI buildout. The company has already issued $50 billion of bonds in the first half of 2026, and it will be another test of the market’s appetite for AI-related debt. Initial jobless claim fillings were 199,000 last week, less than expected and essentially unchanged from the prior week. The number of people continuing to file unemployment claims rose more than expected to 1.8 million, but that figure is still down 100,000 from the end of last year. The July jobs report will be released tomorrow morning, which is expected to show 80,000 jobs added to nonfarm payrolls.
