Treasuries are mixed to start the week, with front-end yields down 2-4 basis points on better buying in overseas markets overnight.

China cut its 5-year Loan Prime Rate by the largest amount on record in a bid to offset its struggling property sector. According to a Bloomberg article this morning, foreign businesses’ direct investment into China last year was the lowest in 30 years. The U.S. economic data calendar is relatively light week. The highlights will be the minutes of the January 31 FOMC meeting (tomorrow) and weekly jobless claims (Thursday). There are multiple Fed speakers this week, but it’s unlikely that we will get any fresh perspective given that most of them have spoken recently.
