The yield curve is modestly steeper at the start of the week, with long-end yields of 4 bps higher.

Trading activity was lighter overnight with volumes at roughly 60% of the 10-day average. This week’s economic calendar is relatively light from a data perspective. Some are watching the release of regional Fed business surveys, and PMI reports to see if there are signs of post-election surges in orders/investment. Last week’s Empire Manufacturing Index, which surveys manufacturing companies in New York state, showed the largest increase in new orders in nearly 3 years, likely reflecting optimism on a relaxed operating environment as well as the prospect of higher tariffs in the future. Later this week, the Philadelphia Fed survey and the S&P PMI report will be released.
