Treasuries have opened this morning right where they ended the day yesterday following the selloff. US equity futures are pointing to a slightly lower open following a positive session in Asian equity markets as investors are trying to discern if China and the US can reach an agreement on trade.
Mortgage applications saw an uptick last week, as the number of new applications rose by 1.6%, the first increase since August 17th. Purchase applications were down from last week only increasing by 0.3% vs 0.9%. Refis were the big drive of the increase in applications, as the number of refinancing applications rose by 3.7% vs a decline of 5.9% in the week prior. Housing starts came in higher than expected with actual starts coming in at 1,282k vs 1,238k; representing a 9.7% increase month over month compared to last months 0.9% increase.
