Treasury yields are leaking higher to start the week with Brent crude futures up nearly 2% on the day to $98.6 a barrel.

An Iranian attack on Saudi energy facilities sparked the rally in oil prices overnight. In other news, copper prices hit a record high for a second straight trading session last night, adding to potential inflation pressures. A short-term supply squeeze has been created as US importers have attempted to front-run any potential increase in tariffs on the refined metal needed for data centers, renewable energy equipment, and power grids.

The highlight of this week’s economic calendar is the August CPI report released on Friday. Wholesale inflation data (PPI) for August will be released on Thursday. The Fed has entered is blackout period for public comments ahead of the September 16 FOMC meeting.
