Treasuries benefited from a decline in oil prices overnight, albeit on lighter trading volumes.
Yields are currently 3-5 basis points lower in a modest bull steepening move. Nasdaq futures are down more than 1% ahead of the open on worries of an overextended AI-led rally following disappointing guidance from a couple of chipmakers. Oil markets continue to trade with optimism after yesterday’s announcement of a ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, but news reports suggest fighting continues in Lebanon and Iran denies any progress in US peace talks.
